I’m Billy, an IT Software Engineering Team Lead at Vermeer. I excel at unlocking collaboration between teams so people can make clear decisions and solve the right problems.
01 / About
I enjoy working at the leading edge of technology while keeping people and their needs at the center of the work.
I work remotely from Grand Rapids, Michigan, leading an IT software engineering team at Vermeer. My career has taken me from embedded microcontrollers and Linux through application development and now enterprise software, giving me a broad view of how technology fits together.
I’ve also taught as an adjunct instructor in Grand Valley State University’s engineering department, where I enjoyed watching lessons click for the next generation of engineers. Today, I serve on the City of Grand Rapids’ West Side Corridor Improvement Authority board, bringing my perspective as a resident and consumer to decisions affecting the West Side’s business districts.
02 / Experience
Coaching engineers, creating clarity, and removing friction so teams can grow, take ownership, and deliver.
Drawing on experience across embedded systems, Linux, application development, and enterprise software to find practical solutions.
Making technical ideas approachable, mentoring others, and contributing to a stronger West Side.
03 / Community
Volunteering technical help for organizations doing good
I set aside time to help nonprofits and community organizations establish a clear, useful web presence.
If your organization needs its first website, a simpler way to share resources, or help making an existing site more useful, I’d be glad to hear about it. We’ll start with a conversation about what your community needs, what I can contribute, and a practical way forward.
